Abstract
Analyses on water quality of rivers in Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City show that the rivers flowing into Yangchenghu Lake(source lake) were above the water quality standard. The main pollution causes include severe non-point sources, low rate of centralized treatment, hydraulic connection interrupted by hydraulic structures, and dispersed layout of industrial enterprises. The serious situation for water environment protection was pointed out,and pollution prevention and control measures were proposed, such as non-point pollution remediation, ecotypical industrial alteration, sewage disposal, water diversion, and imperative protection for Yangchenghu Lake and Taihu Lake.
