Abstract

Based on the field investigation in August,2012 and May,2013,more than 400 specimens were collected and identified,we analyzed the floristic of vascular plants. This result shows that the border area between northern Balikun in Xinjiang and Mongolia is a typical arid mountain, there are 29 families,69 genuses, and 88 species, plant species are few. In the flora, there are few large families, and Chenopodiaceous is the largest and the dominant families( 12 genuses and 19 species),followed by 4 families include Poaceae,Compositae,Zygophyllaceae, and Fabaceae( 27 genuses and 32 species). While the single genus of families, the proportion of single-species family are as high as 62. 07% and 44. 83%; minor-species genera that contain 2-5 species are 13 genuses( 32 species);single-species genera which are up to 56 genuses, occupy 81. 16% and 63. 64% of the total number of genaras and species separately in the region,is a major component of the plant genus, this shows the natural conditions is very harsh and only 1 species of most families and generas distribute in this area. The vegetation of this area is sparse and usually distributed fragmentally. Xerophytic and super xerophytic are the major plants, besides, there is a little amount of wet or halophytes distributed in some individual small area, even a small field of Populus euphratica. The region is no typical Tianshan and Altai plant components, also different significantly from west Beita Mountain, closer to Junggar Basin. Flofistic element with obvious temperate characteristics, closely linked with the Mediterranean area.
