Abstract

【Objectives】To study the expression of PTEN in gastric carcinoma,and the relationship between the expression and clinical biological behavior of gastric carcinoma. 【Methods】To examine the expression of PTEN in gastric carcinoma and normal gastric mucosa by immunohistochemistry method(SP method).【Results】The expres-sion of PTEN in gastric carcinoma (53.42%) is significantly lower than that in normal gastric mucosa (100%) (P 0.01). In the gastric carcinoma,the expression of PTEN relate with the size,gross type,differentiation,invasive depth,lymph node metastasis and PTNM stages (P 0.01 or P 0.05),but not with patient's sex,age and the tumor location (P ﹥0.05).【Conclusion】The abnormal expression of PTEN in gastric carcinoma participate in the genesis of gastric carcinoma. The lower expressions of PTEN prognosticate growing faster,malignancy higher and easy to metastasize in gastric carcinoma.
