Abstract

Objective To evaluate the influence of blood in root canal on measurement accuracy of apex locator Raypex5 in vitro. Methods Tirty extracted single root canal teeth were included in this study. The actual length of the root canals were obtained by direct manual measurement. The working length of the root canal was measured by Raypex5 in conditions of dry root canal, root canal filled partly with blood and with blood, respectively. Results There was no significant difference in root canal length between Raypex5 and direct manual measurement(P 0.05).Raypex5 measurement showed no significant difference among the three conditions(P0.05).Conclusion Blood in the root canal does not affect the measurement accuracy of Raypex5.
