Abstract
In order to study the combustion process and gas flow in cylinder of a sparkignition CNG engine, the CFD software FIRE developed by AVL is adopted to simulate combustion process of a spark-ignition engine. With numerical simulation, some important information in the cylinder which could not be acquired in the experiment was obtained, such as the velocity, temperature fields and flame propagation.Furthermore, the characteristic of flow field and the temperature distribution in the cylinder were investigated in detail;on the other hand, the effect of turbulent kinetic energy on the flame propagation was analyzed in detail. The investigation about the information from numerical simulation gives some theory guidance for combustion chamber design and optimizing combustion performance.
