CLINICAL STUDY OF LOSARTAN ON REVERSION OF LEFT VENTRICULAR HYPERTROPHY IN 50 PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION

Abstract

ObjectiveTo study the effects of losartan on reversion of left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in patients with hypertension.MethodsFifty patients with LVH were treated with losartan(50 mg/d) for 24 weeks,and then all the patients underwent echocardiography to monitor left ventricular structure and function changes.ResultsAfter 8 weeks treatment blood pressure was lowered significantly.After 24 weeks treatment interventricular septum diastolic thickness(IVST),left ventricular posterior wall thickness(LVPWT),left ventricular mass index(LVMI) decreased significantly(P 0.01),respectively.The total effective ratio was 85.0 .ConclusionAccompanying antihypertension effects,losartan has effects on reversion of LVH in the patients with essential hypertension.
