Abstract

[Objective] To observe the clinical effects of Chinese medicine in the treatment of acute radiation oropharyngitis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) patients after radiotherapy. [Methods] 102 NPC patients after routine radiotherapy were randomly divided into two groups, one treated with Chinese medicine( treatment group) ,the other with Dobell's solution(control group) .The oropharyngeal symptoms and mucosa response status after radiation were observed. [Results] The oropharyngeal symptoms and mucosa response status in the treatment group were milder than those in the control group. The effective rate in the treatment group was 90.2% , while that in the control group was 19% . The therapeutic effect was better in the treatment group. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant P 0.01) .[Conclusion] The study shows that Chinese medicine has a satisfactory effect on the treatment of acute radiation oropharyngitis and has no adverse reaction.
