Evaluation of health education of AIDS prevention in students of Yulin Normal University

Objective To understand the status of AIDS knowledge in college students and their requirement for health education,and evaluate the effect of health education for improving teaching methods. Methods By the random cluster sampling method,860 students were selected and investigated about AIDS with a questionnaire before and after the education. Results After the intervention the awareness of the knowledge that mosquitoes' biting could not transmit HIV/AIDS improved from 41.69% to 72.68%.There was a significant difference,χ~2= 163.18,P0.01.Totally 67% of students knew that curing venereal disease could prevent from AIDS,and 68% of students knew that a regular sexual partner could prevent from AIDS.A total of 68% of students got the knowledge of AIDS from Network,and 71% of students expected to know the knowledge of AIDS from school health education.Conclusions The AIDS knowledge of the students is inadequate,and we should strengthen the education of AIDS prevention.The media,such as broadcast and Network,can play an important role in the education.
