Abstract

Objective To study the relation between clinicopathological characteristic with the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF-C)in different type of gastric cancer cell lines.Methods The expression of VEGF-C mRNA and protein in gastric carcinoma cell lines was examined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and Western blot respectively.Fifty and three cases' expression of VEGF-C in gastric cancer and in the para-cancer tissue were detected by immunohistochemical methods.Double immunohistostaining with Ⅷ factor antibody and Ⅳ collagen antibody was used to stain and count the micro-lymphatic.Results The expression of VEGF-C mRNA and its protein in all gastric carcinoma cell lines could be detected.Expression of VEGF-C in gastric cancer associated with lymphatic metastasis and pathological staging(P0.05).Lymphatic density also concerned with the expression of VEGF-C,lymphatic metastasis and pathological staging(P0.05).Conclusion VEGF-C may play an important role in lymphatic metastasis of gastric cancer.,and could involve in formation of lymphangiogenesis.
