Abstract

Objective: To study the pharmacological action of alkaloids extracted from wildlife-Cynanchum Komarrivii AI Iljiniski. Methods: Tests of mouse auricular swelling induced by croton oil and of rat foot claw swelling induced by carragreenin and formalin were conducted to examine the anti-inflammatory action of the alkaloids, rocket electrophoresis was utilized to estimate serum lysozyme content and C3b receptor amount of peritoneal macrophage was determined by using yeast polysaccharide-complement rosette approach. Results: Compared with negative controls, auricular swelling of mouse (given peritoneally the alkaloids in a dose of 12.5mg/kg) was significantly decreased (P0.01), foot claw swelling of rat (given peritoneally the alkaloids in a dose of 12.3mg/kg) was significantly lowered (P0.01),and contents of serum lysozyme and C3b receptor were significantly increased (P0.01). Conclusion: The alkaloids of cynanchum komarrivii AI Iljiniski is of the potential of inhibiting inflammation and of raising the ability of immunological response to noxious stimuli.
