Curative Effect of Modified Baihu Jia Rensheng Decoction in the Treatment of Tumor Fever

Objective To study the curative effect of modified Baihu jia Renshen decoction in the treatment of patients with tumor fever.Methods 58 tumor fever patients who didn′t receive chemoradiotherapy and who admitted to our hospital from June 2005 to May 2011 were randomly selected,and they were equally divided into observation group and control group,with the two groups receiving modified Baihu jia Renshen decoction and Indocin respectively.The curative effect,average time of defervescence and side effects of the two groups were observed.Results Of the 29 patients in observation group,13 cases were cured,7 cases were remarkably improved,4 cases were improved and 5 cases were ineffective,the cure rate was 44.83% and the overall effective rate was 82.76%;of the 29 patients in control group,6 cases were cured,8 cases were remarkably improved,5 cases were improved and 10 cases were ineffective,the cure rate was 20.69% and the overall effective rate was 65.52%.The curative effect of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group(P0.05).The average body temperature dropped from 38.5 ℃ to 36.5 ℃ in observation group with average defervescence time of(1.5±0.2)d;while the average body temperature dropped from 38.4 ℃ to 37.1 ℃ in control group with average defervescence time of(3.5±0.3)d.The difference of average defervescence time between the two groups was statistically significant(P0.05).After treatment,while blood cell of two patients in control group reduced significantly,but there was no such reduction in observation group.Conclusion The modified Baihu jia Renshen decoction is effective in treating tumor fever with short defervescence time,stable and lasting effect.It has no side effect and should be recommended.
