Abstract

The twenty-eight soybean varieties extensively cultivated since 1923 in Jilin province were chosen to analysis the changes of enzymes for protection against lipid peroxidation in leaves at seedling stage. The results indicated that activities of peroxidase(POD) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) increased by 18.03% and 21.20% respectively, while malondialdehyde(MDA) content declined by 26.20% with evolution among soybean varieties. These characteristics might be related to the gradual increase of stress resistance of modern soybean varieties.
