Abstract

Objective To study the application of multilocus sequence typing(MLST) in Salmonella identification and try to know the related data of Salmonella in Guangzhou.Methods Seven housekeeping genes(aroC,dnaN,hemD,hisD,purE,sucA and thrA) were chosen as the target genes and were amplified,sequenced and analyzed.Results Totally,41 Salmonella strains were isolated and were classified into 8 serotypes and 14 STs.The Salmonella strains isolated from food had 7 serotypes and 10 STs,while those isolated from patients had 5 serotypes and 10 STs.Two new STs were found.Conclusions The result of serotype identification corresponds well with that of MLST for Salmonella.Many STs have fixed serotypes,and the same serotype has relatively fixed STs.So MLST can be used for Salmonella identification.
