Abstract

A RP-HPLC method is established for the determination of levobetaxolol hydrochloride and its related substances.A chromatography is carried out on a EdipseXDE-C18(4.6 mm×150 mm,5 μm),using a mobile phase consisting of methyl cyanide-buffer solution(0.01 mol/L potassium dihydrogen phosphate includes 0.5% triethylamine)(30∶70).The detection is carried out with a UV detector at 274 nm.The flow rate is 1.0 mL/min.Levobetaxolol hydrochloride and its related substances are separated well.A good linear relationship of standard is found in the range of 50~250 mg/L with good correlation(r2=0.999 9).The detection limit is 5 ng for levobetaxolol hydrochloride. The average recovery rate of levobetaxolol hydrochloride is 100.8%.This method is convenient, accurate and suitable for the determination of levobetaxolol hydrochloride and related substances.
