Abstract

This paper describes the morphology, histology of gonad in Trachidermus fasciatus. The fishes were hatched in April 2011.Based on the histological features, the development of gonad could be divided into 5 stages. The testis developed into stage Ⅰ in July. Then the testis developed into stage Ⅱ in August. In September, the testis developed into stage Ⅲ.During October and November, they stayed in the stage of Ⅳ.In December, the testis developed into stage Ⅴ finally and continued to the next January.During July to September, the ovaries were at stage Ⅱ,and then developed into stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ in October and November separately. In December and January, the ovaries stayed in the stage of Ⅴ.The results of this study indicated that the maturation age of Trachidermus fasciatus is 1 year old.
