Abstract

we studied the gonad somatic index(GSI), liver weight index and gonad histology of the wild male Oplegnathus fasciatus. The result showed that the GSI of the O. fasciatus was between 0.19 %~10.56 %. Reproductive season was mainly from May to June. The HSI changed in wave-type: it changed up gradually from January to March, but, changed down gradually from April to June, then increased again from July to August, and eventually, it decreased gradually after September. O. fasciatus testis were in foliations, which were divided into five stages in an annual cycle of testicle development, preproliferative period, proliferative period, growth period, the mature period, degradation and absorption period. The type of the ejaculation was synchronization and batches. The Ⅲ asynchrony of testis was very obvious with the existing spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes and secondary spermatocytes. At the later stage, this non-synchronization gradually disappeared
