Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of Orem self-care mode on the quality of life of patients with essential hypertension. Methods 105 patients with essential hypertension were randomly divided into test group(n = 53) and control group(n = 52).The control group was given routine drug treatment and health education, and the test group was given nursing according to Orem self-care mode. The antihypertensive effects, scores of SF-36,self management ability and nursing satisfaction of 2 groups were surveyed. Results After nursing intervention, systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 2 groups were lower than that before intervention, but they decreased more obviously in the test group. After nursing intervention, the scores of SF-36 of 2 groups were higher than that before intervention, and scores of physiological function, physiological role, general health, vitality, social function, emotional and mental health in the experimental group were higher than that in the control group. The rates of reasonable diet, moderate exercise, compliance with medical therapy, blood pressure monitoring, satisfaction to nursing in the experimental group were higher than that in the control group. Conclusion Orem self-care model can improve the quality of life of patients with hypertension, improve patient self management ability and satisfaction to the nursing work.
