Abstract
Objective To evaluate minimal jnvasive treatment for varicose vein by endoveous radiofrequency obliteration. Methods Twenty-four cases with 30 limbs were undertaken percutaneous puncture of great saphenous vein, treated with radiofrequency heat of the vein wall through an endoluminal catheter under Duplex ultrasound and DSA. Results Endovenous radiofrequency ablation was successful in all 30 cases. No deep venous thrombosis formation skin bruise and pulmonary arterial embolism were found. Complete treatment took an average of 17.8 minutes. The average hospital stay was 4.9 days. Follow-up of 1 week to 9 months, varicose veins were alleviated in 16 limbs and disappearded in 14 limbs. Duplex ultrasound or angiography confirmed 25 treated great saphenous vein have no the venous blood. The caliber of 5 treated great saphenous vein was more narrow than before. No reoccurrence with satisfied result. Conclusion Endovenous radiofrequency obliteration is a minimal invasive treatment for varicose vein with simple and safe manipulation, faster recovery, effective results.
