The diagnosis value of joint detection of procalcitonin and C-reactive protein in early MODS

Abstract

Objective:To study the relationship and clinical significance of the peripheral blood procalcitonin(PCT),C-reactive protein and early multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS).Methods: 106 patients with multiple trauma were divided into MODS group and non-MODS group according to the occurrence of MODS,and the concentration of peripheral blood PCT and CRP in the 6 hours and 1,2,3,5,7days after trauma were detected by antibody-sandwich immunoluminometric assay and immune turbidimetric test and then compared with the 32 heathy people in normal group.Results: Compared with control group and normal group,the level of serum PCT in patients with MODS in 6 hours,1,2,3,5 and 7 days after trauma increased obviously(P0.05).When compared to control group,the level of CRP in MODS group in 6 hours,the first and second days after trauma increased significantly(P0.05),and there is no statistical significance on CRP between the two groups after 3 days(P0.05).Conclusion: The increase of PCT and CRP has close relation to the occurrence of secondary MODS.The joint detection of peripheral blood PCT and CRP in patients with multiple trauma can predict the occurrence of early MODS.
