Abstract
An algorithm of stator fault detection for induction motors is presented, and it considers rotor fault to improve its reliability. The transient simulation of stator winding inter - turn short circuit and broken rotor bar fault is carried out and analysis shows that broken rotor bar fault would lead to (1±2 s)f1 components (s is slip and f1 supply frequency) superimposed on stator current, which decreases the computation accuracy of conventional algorithm for stator negative sequence current, the typical and important feature of stator fault, resulting in misjudgement. The proposed algorithm applies the spectrum analysis / correction and self - adaptive filter techniques in advance to identify and remove the (1±2 s)f1 components from stator current. Simulations and experiments demons - trate that the proposed algorithm commutates stator negative sequence current correctly, immune to rotor fault.
