Abstract

Under ideal-cultivation,the yield potential,yield component,biomass yield,harvest index,the dynamic changes of dry grain weight and dry stem and leaf weight were analyzed by using 10 superior wheat cultivars in Sichuan province released from 2000. The result showed that:( i) The yield potential of wheat cultivars in Sichuan province was between 460. 11- 555. 88 kg /667m2.( ii) The yield component was that: 24. 82- 32. 40 104- head /667m2spikes number per unit area,28. 1- 40. 6 grains per spike,and 1000 grain weight was between 42. 7- 54. 4 g. Among them the spike number was the first factor of the yield potential.( iii) The biomass yield was between 1081. 56- 1325. 65 kg /667m2and 0. 36- 0. 48 of harvest index,it was feasible for increasing yield potential by improvement of harvest index.( iv) Sichuan wheat cultivars had good characteristics of grain filling,the long rapid-growth period and early formation of vegetative biomass were very helpful for high grain weight. In the future,high yield wheat breeding in Sichuan province should pay attention to high-density tolerance,good harvest index and long rapid-growth period of grain filling.
