Abstract

The border gateway protocol (BGP) is the inter-domain dynamic routing protocol used to exchange reach ability information between autonomous system in the Internet. The policy-based configuration of the BGP will cause route oscillations, which can give rise to global routing anomalies. This paper presents a one-year study of the effect that BGP policies have on the route stability and the BGP convergence properties and analyses the simulated data of a classical model of three nodcs. Our analysis shows that the convergence time or/and the number of routing update packets is interrelated with a proper miniannounce-time in the BGP policies and a large delay-time in the link.
