Study on adult somatotype of Wa nationality in China by Heath-Carter somatotyping method

The Heath-Carter somatotyping method was used to study the adult somatotype among 442 Wa adults(258 males;184 females) in Yunnan province.The results were as follows:(1)The mean somatotype were Balanced Mesomorphy category in males and Endomorphic-Mesomorphy category in females.The values of males and females were 2.2—5.5—2.5 and 4.0—5.0—1.9 respectively.(2)In males,the values of Endomorph have no difference among 20-,30-,40-years old but decreased rapidly after 50-years old.That of Mesomorph and Ectomorph did not changed greatly between 20-and 40-years old but Mesomorph decreased and Ectomorph increased after 50-years old.In females,the values of Endomorph,Mesomorph and Ectomorph did not changed remarkly.(3)Wa adults show very significance between sex(P0.01).(4)Somatotype of Wa was closely to Guangxi Bouyei and Yunnan Khmu in China.
