Effect of Preservative Solutions on Three Commercial Cut Flowers

Abstract

Preservative formulas for three species of cut flowers(Gladiolus gandavensis,Rosa cvs,Dianthus caryophyllus) were investigated.Effects of different preservatives on quality and vase life of those cut flowers were observed in natural conditions of Wuhan,from which the better preservatives of each cut flower were selected.The results showed that prescription(2%Sug+250mg/L8-HQ+200mg/LCA+50mg/LCoSO4+100mg/L Al2(SO4)3+25mg/LAgNO3+15EDTA) gave the best preserving property of cut Gladiolus gandavensis and could extend its vase life obviously.And the prescription(2%S+250mg/L8-HQ+200mg/LCA+25mg/LAgNO3+15mg/L EDTA)gave the better preserving property of cut Rosa cvs and the vase life of which is 12 days longer than control grape.And the prescription(3%S+250mg/L8-HQ+50mg/LCA+20mg/LBA)gave the best preserving property of cut Dianthus caryophyllus and significant effect and the vase life of which is 47 days.
