Abstract
To study the expression and the role of receptors of nerve growth factor in the perineural invasion of adenoid cystic carcinoma(ACC) of salivary glands. Methods The expression of TrkA and p75 were detected by immunohistochemistry in adenoid cystic carcinoma tissues of different human salivary glands. Results TrkA was positive in 36(90%) cases and p75 was positive in 36(90%) cases.TrkA and p75 were both positive in 33 cases.21 cases showed perineural invasion. The ratio of TrkA/p75 in perineural invasion was higher than that of non-perineural invasion(P0.01).Conclusion TrkA may play a more important role than p75 in the perineural invasion of adenoid cystic carcinoma of human salivary glands.
