Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of undergraduate students' cognitive emotion regulation strategies on depression and anxiety. And to provide suggestions on Mental health education for university students. Methods Give a measurement for 504 freshmen by Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire,Beck Depression Rating Scale,Beck Anxiety Scale.Using Pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis to study the relevance of Cognitive emotion regulation with depression and anxiety. Results 61.9% undergraduate students had depressive symptoms, and 6.9% undergraduate students had anxiety symptoms. There is significant difference in using regulation strategies of refocus on planning, rumination and catastrophizing in groups of students at different depression states(P0.01),and there is significant difference in using regulation strategies of positive refocusing, rumination and catastrophizing in groups of students at different anxiety states(P0.01).Linear regression analysis showed that all factors of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire can explain the 15.3%variance of depression and it can explain the 9.8% variance of anxiety.Rumination,Positive reappraising and Catastrophizing were the main variables to predict;Rumination and Catastrophizing were the main variables to predict anxiety. Conclusion Cognitive emotion regulation and depression, anxiety are closely linked,in which Rumination was the best predictors of depression and Catastrophizing was the best predictor of anxiety. This study provide bases for undergraduate students' depression and anxiety.
