Abstract

A Cenozoic fold-thrust structure has been identified for the first time in Jiyang Sag by interpretation of 3D seismic profiles and wells. This NS trending fold-thrust structure developed in the end of Es_4 deposition and thrusted from east to west, shows an important tectonic reversion event in Tertiary filling sequence of the basin and is one of important geological representative of Jiyang movement in the study area. T~′_6 boundary age and regional plate tectonic analysis indicate that this tectonic reversion event occurred extensively in East China and was closely related to a great reorganization of global plate tectonics during Cenozoic. Identification of this tectonic event may provide new information for dynamic setting of formation and evolution of Cenozoic basins in East China and has a great significance for hydrocarbon exploration of deep levels of the basin.
