Abstract
ObjectiveTo study clinical data and pathological characteristics of uterine intravenous leiomyoma and analyze the source of misdiagnosis by ultrasonography. MethodsClinical symptoms and ultrasonographic findings in 22 cases with uterine intravenous leiomyoma confirmed by surgical pathology were retrospectively analyzed. ResultsThe main clinical features of intravenous leiomyoma were menarrhagia and/or abdominal masses. Before operation, only 4 cases were accurately diagnosed (18.2%) with ultrasonography. The cases of misdiagnosis by ultrasonography included 8 cases of subso myoma (36.4%), 7 cases of multiple myoma (31.4%) and 3 cases of sub mucosa myoma (13.7%). ConclusionUterine intravenous leiomyoma is the begnin tumor with special growth pattern and pathological features. It is important to provide the accurately ultrasonographic information for surgical planning.
