Abstract
A new reagent p methylcarbonazo was synthesized and studied for spectrophotometric determination of barium. In citric acid medium, barium reacted with the reagent and formed a blue complex. The complex had a maximum absorption peak at 720nm,with apparent molar absorptivity of 2.18×10 5 L·mol -1 ·cm -1 . Thus, ppb amounts of barium was determined directly without any preconcentration. Proposed method was applied to analysis of barium in real samples.
