Abstract

Objectives To observe the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis (CAs) and coronary artery atherosclerosis (CAAs) in patients of coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods Coronary angiography measurement was performed in 122 patients with coronary heart disease to judge the degree of coronary artery atherosclerosis. The carotid-intima media thickness(IMT) and carotid plaques were measured by ultrasound. Results There was significant difference between CAAs with CHD in IMT,carotid plaques score and incidence of carotid atherosclerosis plaques(P0.005;P0.001;P0.01,respectively) There was positive correlation between CAAs and IMT,carotid atherosclerosis score(r=0.73,0.67,P0.005). There was positive correlation between coronary angiography score and IMT,carotid atherosclerosis score(r=0.69,0.68,P0.005). Conclusions CAs are associated with CAAs in patients with coronary heart disease.
