Relation of body weight gain during pregnancy with birth weight of neonates and its influence on pregnancy outcomes in women with gestational diabetes mellitus

Objective To explore the relation of body weight gain during pregnancy with birth weight of neonates and its influence on pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Methods The data of blood sugar during pregnancy,body weight,HbAIc,delivery,neonatal body weight and complications in 132 pregnant women of single pregnancy with GDM were collected and grouped according to the the prepregnancy body mass index(BWI).The influence of body weight gain during pregnancy to fetus and pregnancy outcomes on the base of different body weights was investigated.Results Higher body weight gain during pregnancy was followed up by higher birth weight of neonates in pregnant women with GDM.In the body weith gain during pregancy surpassing 15 kg in the low body weight group,the birth weight of neonates was significantly increased than that in the other groups with statistical difference between them(P0.05).The body weight gain during pregnancy in various groups showed a gradual increasing tendency of cesarean section and bad pregnancy outcomes.Conclusion Body weight gain during pregnancy of pregnant women with GDM is related to birth weight of neonates.Aiming at different prepregnancy body weights in the pregnant women with GDM,taking the active measures of dietary treatment for propely increasing the pregnant body weight can control the body weight within a reasonable range and reduce the occurrence of bad pregnancy outcomes.
