Abstract
Objective To explore the MRI features in the diagnosis of Chiari's malformation and evaluate their value. Methods The MRI findings of Chiari's malformation in 15 cases were retrospectively analyzed. Fifteen patients with Chiari's malformation were proved by MRI and operation. Results The caudal poles of the tonsiles were pointed in 12 cases, the cerebellar tonsillar hernia was 3.5~21 mm below the foramen magnum, and 12 cases were with syringomyelia.Conclusion MRI can well display the location and shape of Chiari's malformation. MRI is the first choice for demonstrating Chiari's malformation. Syringomyelia is a primary concomitant symptom of Chiari's malformation.
