On the Fundamental Difficulties in Protecting and Inheriting Intangible Cultural Heritage

The conditions of China's intangible cultural heritage projects can be classified into the following five categories,which cover most of the projects: 1.the unprotected owing to political and ideological reasons,or those already protected,yet indiscernible;2.crafts that no one wants to take up because of poor earning;3.the crafts replaced by industrial production;4.those which have lost their soil because of the change in natural environment and production mode;5.those cultures endangered by the change of interpersonal relations resulted from the change in mode of living and production.The change in natural environment and mode of living and production is a necessity of modernization,and hence irreversible,contrary to the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.This is the very fundamental difficulties in protecting and inheriting intangible cultural heritage.
