Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of recombinant human growth hormone(rHGH) in patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) with non-invasion bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP) ventilation. Methods Thirty patients with COPD of respiratory failure with BiPAP ventilation were randomly assigned to rHGH group and control group.Patients in rHGH group were given rHGH 8 IU/d.The treatment days, the indexes of nutritional status, immunological function and blood glucose were recorded and compared between the two groups. Results The average treatment days in rHGH group was less than those in control group,P0.05.After 7 treatment days, the activity of CD4,NKC and the levels of albumin, transferrin and prealbumin levels were increased in rHGH group,P0.05.Conclusion The treatment days in rHGH group could be reduced,rHGH can improve the nutritional status and immunological function in patients with BiPAP ventilation.
