Abstract

Scholars have different understandings about thenine dynastiesin The Literary Mind and Carving of Dragons·Inheritance and Change.This paper discusses the literary characteristics of the works in several periods and dynasties such as Chu,Han and Liu Song by centeringChoosing right words to express one's aspiration and taking consideration of Liu Xie's writing intention and the main idea of Inheritance and Change.It concludes that the inherent and developmental relationship between Chu and Han is inseperable,but literary works of the Liu Song Period have no features of Liu Xie's works.Thus,thenine dynastiessaid by Liu Xie refer to Huang,Tang,Yu,Xia,Zhou,Chu,Han,Wei and Jin dynasties.
