On Moral Hypocrisy——Anatomising Human Nature

Why moral people cannot act morally?Batson suggested that man have a motive of moral hypocrisy,which is to appear moral in one's own and other's eyes while in order to avoid the cost of actually being moral if possible.Through a set of studies,he got evidence of the generality of moral hypocrisy,and found that the second self-deception strategy—to avoid the comparison of one's behavior and moral standards—was an important contributor to moral hypocrisy.The research on moral hypocrisy not only provides us more scientific methods to explore human nature,but also casts light on our moral education for harmonious society.
