Anti-tumor effect of extracts from pericarpium lagenariae hispidae

Abstract

Objective To study the anti-tumor effect of extracts from pericarpium lagenariae hispidae in vitro.Methods The effect in vitro of extracts from pericarpium lagenariae hispidae was detected by MTT assay in several cell lines treated with extracts from pericarpium lagenariae hispidae esposure at different concentrations.Results The growth of human breast cancer MDA-MB-231 and colon cancer HCT116 cells were no significantly inhibited.There was significant effect of extracts from pericarpium lagenariae hispidae for growth inhibitory against leukemia cells CCRF-CEM and lung cancer cells A549.The IC 50 value of its ether extract and acetone extract for growth inhibitory against CCRF-CEM cell line was 12.23 g/mL and 29.05 g/mL respectively,and the IC 50 value against A549 cell line was 83.56 g/mL and 75.22 g/mL respectively.Conclusion The extracts from pericarpium lagenariae hispidae can significantly inhibit growth of tumor cell.
