Clinical and X-ray Manifestation of Accessory Breast Tissue in the Axilla

Objective:Improve the understanding and diagnosis level of accessory breast tissue in the axilla.Methods:200 clinical cases and X-ray manifestations of accessory breast tissue in the axilla were retrospectively analyzed of the literature.Results:Accessory breast tissue in the axilla was happened in men and women,Including male 9 and female 191 with 15~76 years old.28 cases were in complete type (14%),172 cases were in incomplete type (86%).92 cases of them were found in the bilateral axilla (46%),70 cases only in the right (35%),and 38 cases only in the left (19%).3 cases were accompanied with calcification (1.5%),7 cases were complicated by other pathological changes (3.5%).The X-ary manifestations were divided into 4 type:78 cases were patchy and mass type (39%),46 cases were striped and branched type (23%),42 cases were mixed type (21%),34 cases were low density fat type (17%).Conclusion:Knowing and mastering the X-ray manifestations and clinical characterstic of accessory breast tissue in the axilla is helpful in establishing correct diagnosis.
