Abstract
Sintering densification behavior, hardness and grain growth characteristics of carbonyl iron powder prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS) were studied. The results indicate that the relative density of the compact sintered at 600 ℃ by SPS is higher than 95% and it almost doesn’t change when the compact sintered at the temperate of higher than 600 ℃. With the increase of the sintering holding time, the relative density of the compacts hardly increases, but the hardness could be improved. The grain size of sintered compact displaces a little dreasement as long as the sintering temperature and holding time increase.
