Abstract

Objective:To detect the expression of complement regulatory protein(CD55,CD59) on blasts of acute myeloid leukemia(AML). Method:Expression of CD55,CD59 in 203 previously untreated AML patients were analyzed by flow cytometry. Result:In all 203 AML patients' samples, the deficiency of CD59 expression were found in 83 samples.Deficiency of CD55 expression was found in 5 patients' samples(4 samples showed both CD55 and CD59 decrease).According to the WHO classification, the rates of CD59 expression deficiency found in different subtypes of AML were as following: AML-M2(16.7%),AML with t(8;21)(44.0%),AML with t(15;17)(67.92%),AML-M4(9.52%),AML with t(16;16)or inv(16)(92.31%),AML-M5(27.14%).Three AML with t(15;17) and one AML-M5 had been found the deficiency of both CD55 and CD59.Only one sample of AML-M4 had been found the deficiency of both CD55 and CD59.Compared with patients in other subtypes, the deficiency rates in prognostic favorable AML is higher. Conclusion:Deficiencies of CD55 and CD59 expression were detected in parts of AML patients, especially CD59 deficiency. The rates of CD59 expression deficiency was found higher in prognostic favorable AML than others.
