Abstract

In the study, ten or sub-tropical maize inbred lines introduced from CIMMYT and developed by Guangxi were used for diallel crosses with Griffing D4 model and 45 maize cross combinations were produced. The general combining ability(GCA) and special combining ability(SCA) effect of yield of the 45 combinations were analyzed, and the results indicated that the GCA and SCA effects of ten inbred lines were highly significant, and the order of GCA effect value of the inbred lines was CI23619-130DK7-6CI18=CI15CML161DK7-8CI41ShuangM9CI45;the variance order of SCA of inbred lines was DK7-8ShuangM9CML161CI41CI18619-130CI45CI15DK7-6CI23.Moreover,619-130 is an ideal inbred line with higher GCA effect and bigger SCA variance, while CI23×619-130 and CML161×619-130 are the combinations with strongest heterosis. The study showed that new maize hybrids with stronger heterosis could be selected using the model of tropical inbred lines cross with inbred lines.
