Abstract

Objective To analyze the correlation between peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) chemotherapy and the inci-dence of phlebitis, and to explore the causes of phlebitis in patients receiving PICC chemotherapy and the way of prevention and treatment. Methods In-hospital data of 145 cases of PICC chemotherapy were studied and then multiple stepwise regression analy-sis was adopted to analyse the factors causing phlebitis. Results Intubation time in PICC and the location of the end of PICC are the two major factors affecting phlebitis, with the partial regression coefficients being 0.283 and 0.355 respectively(P0.01).Conclu-sion The operating technique of PICC and an ideal location of the end of PICC have clinical significance in preventing phlebitis.
