Clinical aplication of branches of external carotid artery embolization in the intractable epistaxis(analysis of 67 cases)

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the value of transcatheter branches of external carotid artery embolization(TAE) in the treatment of intractable epistaxis.Methods:TAE was performed in sixty-seven cases of intractable epistaxis.Results:The first curative rate was 94%(63/67),the second curative rate was 4.5%(3/67), with unsuccessful treatment in 1 case(1.5%,1/67).There was no severe complications.Conclusion:Transcatheter branches of external carotid artery embolization(TAE) is a safe,effective treatment for the intractable epistaxis and complicatons were rare.
