Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect and complication of the transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE) in the treatment of intractable epistaxis.Method: The data of 47 cases with intractable epistaxis received TAE from January 1993 to August 2007 was analyzed retrospectively.Result: All cases were embolized successfully and cured,bleeding of the nose stopped from postembolization to 3 days after the procedure without any serious complication.Conclusion: Transcatheter arterial embolization is a safe,effective method in the treatment of the intractable epistaxis.
