Abstract
Guyou 527, derived from Gufeng A and Shuhui 527, is a new late indica hybrid combination with high yield, fine grain quality and medium resistance to blast. It was certified by Fujian Crop Variety Release Committee in January, 2004. It matured in 129.1 days, 3.3 days later than the check Liangyou 2163, yielded 6.98 t/hm2 and was intermediately resistant to rice blast in the Fujian provincial regional trials in 2002 and 2003.It had good grain quality. Among 12 grain quality traits, 11 reached the standards of the 2 nd class fine quality rice issued by the Ministry of Agriculture except for the trait of chalky grain (18%). It can be grown as medium or late cropping rice in Fujian, or as early cropping rice in the south of Fujian Province.
