Abstract

The acrylate emulsion was modified by vinyltriisopropoxy silane(trade name is C-1706).Anionic emulsifier SDBS and nonionic emulsifier OP10 was used as multiple emulsifiers in seed emulsion polymerization to synthesiz acrylosilance emulsion with high weathering resistance.Effects of the emulsifier content, the alkoxy silane monomer and its addition mode on the properties of the emulsion were discussed. The structures, morphology and particles size distribution of the emulsion were analyzed by FT-IR,scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and particle size analyzer respectively. The results show that SDBS and OP-10 as multiple emulsifiers can cooperate well, the emulsifier efficiency is highest when the emulsifier amount is 2.5%~3% with the ratio of 1∶1;the latter-addition mode of C-1706 can restrain the hydrolysis and polycondensation reaction of the organosiloxane efficiently and maintain the stability of polymerization process. Moreover, the water absorption of the emulsion film is lowered, the weathering resistance and hardness of it are improved.
