Abstract
The silicone modified acrylate emulsion was prepared by seed emulsion polymerization with acrylate, octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D 4 )and the composite emulsifier as raw materials. The composite emulsifier was the mixture of anionic and non ionic surfactant. The resulting emulsion was observed by TEM and showed clear core shell structure. The affection of the amount and type of emulsifiers on polymerization, the stability of the reaction system, the size and morphology of emulsion particles, percent conversion as well as the viscidity of emulsion was studied. It showed that the optimum mass ratio of anionic to non ionic in the composite emulsifier was 2∶1,the best dosage of the composite emulsifier was 4%.
