Abstract
[Objective]To investigate the therapeutic effect of Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy(URL)and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy(ESWL)on the ureteral calculi in the old patients.[Methods]A retrospective analysis was carried out for the therapeutic effect of URL and ESWL treatment on ureteral calculi of elderly patients from January 2007 years to December 2010.[Results]Total success rate and the success rate of lower ureter in URL group were higher than those of ESWL group(P﹤0.01);The success rate of upper ureter in URL group was lower than that of ESWL group(P﹤0.05).Fever and renal colic were less in URL group than those in ESWL group(P﹤0.01);Vomiting,gross hematuria and ureteral perforation had no significant difference between the 2 groups(P﹥0.05).[Conclusion]Minimally invasive URL treatment has more advantages.ESWL should be the firest choice with upper ureteral calculi, and URL should be the first choice for lower ureteral calcuili for the old patients.
