Abstract

Objective To establish a method for determination of heavy metals in cosmetics with microwave digestion of samples and atomic absorption spectrometry. Methods Microwave digestion of samples with different digestion conditions and atomic absorption spectrometry were used to determine Pb,As,Cr,Cd and Cu contents in 75 kinds of cosmetics. Results In the system of nitric acid(7 ml)and hydrogen peroxide(2 ml),as increased the pressure gradually, the microwave digestion time was 25 minutes,a better result of digestion was obtained. With a better linear range, the detection limit was 0.005 mg/l,the recovery rates and RSDs of this method were 75.0%-98.3% and 2.3%-6.8% respectively. Conclusion This method is suitable for determination of heavy metals in cosmetics.
