Abstract

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the safety and efficacy of sublingual immunotherapy(SLIT)for one year in patients with allergic rhinitis.METHODS Sixty patients were randomly assigned to two groups: SLIT group and control group. The 30 patients in SLIT group received sublingual immunotherapy and antiallergic therapy, and the another 30 patients in control group just received antiallergic therapy.RESULTS The rhinitis symptom scores and the dose of antiallergic medications in SLIT group was much less than those in control group(P0.01),meanwhile the self-assessment of efficacy in SLIT group improved significantly than that in control group(P0.01).No severe side effects occurred.CONCLUSION SLIT is an effective and safe method for allergic rhinitis induced by mite.
